Bends

Double Sheet Bend

DIFFICULTY ●●○○○

A Sheet Bend with a second wrap of the thinner rope around the bight before the final tuck. Compare it with the single version when joining unequal rope diameters.

Why it earns its place

The upgrade you want whenever ropes are wet, slippery, very different in size, or the load is going to bounce. Same logic as the sheet bend, twice the confidence.

Where it fails

Inherits the sheet bend's rules: tails on the same side, and snug it down properly before loading. Still not the choice for critical life loads — use a double fisherman's there.
